3 Easy But Unique Workouts
Working out may not be your favorite pastime or may not like exercise at all. If you do not enjoy running, then you shouldn’t do it. If you loathe lifting weights then you should avoid going to the gym too. The point of this article is to help you find an exercise that you will do every day. Exercise keeps us in a healthy frame of mind throughout the day that can lead you to making healthy eating choices to enhance your workouts.
Here are 3 workouts that you can do that are easy, unique and fun:
Take A “Not Too Normal” Walk
Walking briskly for fifteen minutes is enough to get your close to walking a mile. However, there are several ways you can make your walk ‘not so normal.’ For example, add some anaerobic movements to your walk to break it up such as stopping to do 10 jumping jacks or stepping side to side. If you are in charge of a meeting at work, have a ‘walking meeting’ instead and get everybody’s blood pumping with new ideas.
If you live in an area that offers beautiful hiking trails, find a friend or ask your spouse to join you on a walk (call it a walk instead of a hike – less intimiating). It will give you time to enjoy the scenery, enjoy each other’s company and talk about life. Perhaps you can hike to your favorite place for a healthy beverage or meal.
Dance To Your Favorite Music
Put on a CD from the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s and get in a great cardiovascular workout without realizing it. You will be amazed how much it will elevate your heart rate all while you are having a blast. It is even more fun if you can dance with a partner so move the coffee table aside and get dancing. Watching “Dancing With The Stars” can certainly give you some ideas for moves and combinations that you have probably always wanted to try. Have you ever noticed how out of breath the contestants are after their dance routines? And you can always see a difference in the celebrity dancers after a few weeks of regular dancing practice. They get an amazing workout.
Dancing is definitely a weight-bearing exercise that builds bone and also improves upper body and strength. You can burn a tremendous amount of calories and is something that is easy to do. Aim for at least 30 minutes each day and have a blast.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to doing yoga. It offers everything your body needs to function at optimum levels. First of all, it is efficient, engaging your core muscles to stabilize your body during the poses. Yoga allows you to raise your heart rate, lengthen and strengthen your muscles all at the same time. As you match your breath to each movement, it can definitely count as a cardiovascular workout.
It is not a competitive sport. Everyone can be doing the exact same pose and each person can look totally different. There is no comparing to one another because it is all about you. For inspiration, check out any of the yoga videos on DVD or online. No equipment is required, however a yoga mat makes it more comfortable. Practicing yoga on a regular basis can definitely help you lose weight, change your mind about the way you approach life and help you appreciate your body for all of the amazing things that it can do for you. Changing your mind about your body and the foods you feed it are a much more effective weight-loss tool.
Regardless of which workout you choose, pay attention to how you feel at all times during your workout. Choose a workout that you really look forward to that saves time, money, and makes you feel great, all at the same time. Here is to a healthy, strong, whole new you and most of all – have fun.
